This firm was the third American publisher to print Mayne Reid’s
Croquet book. In 1869 it published Croquet: A Treatise with Notes and
Commentaries. Although it is sometimes noted that this is the second
American edition, the Horace Fuller book was a published a year earlier
in 1868 while the first edition was published in 1863 by James Redpath.
Although both this book and the first edition have 48
pages, there are significant differences in the contents. The rules are
reworded, the preface is different, etc. I do not know the differences
between these two editions and the Horace Fuller printing.
