Street and Smith, New York
This firm published a number of Mayne Reid titles, all of which were
reprints.
The Medal Library was a long running series of 5" x 7" paperback
reprints. The original titles in this library were published between
1898-1917 but the series was reprinted for many years.
The Medal Library number for each Mayne Reid book is noted after the
book. The original Medal Library publication is also listed.
The cover illustrations are different for each book and may or may not
be related to the underlying story.

Boys' Popular Library lists four Mayne Reid titles in its 57
volume list. This series is not to be confused with the larger Boys’
Own Library which was published in the same time frame (i. e.
1902-1904). It appears that Street and Smith shared the plates of its
Boy’s Popular Library with the Federal Publishing Company.
Lone Ranch
Ran Away to Sea
Cliff Climber
Boy Tar
The Primrose Series #15 was The Lone Ranch. It was published in 1891
and was in wraps. The titles in this series were released semi-monthly.
The books were 5.125” x 7.5”.
